Comprehensive eye tests & eye exams

Whilst it’s important to find issues if they exist, we are often ‘diagnosing normal’ – confirming there are no significant issues with your eye health.

We don’t rush to fix problems that are more ‘theoretical’ in nature if they don’t bother you and aren’t significant. Simple solutions are our preferred starting point, and discussing all your options – including no intervention – is important.

Do I need an eye examination?

Trouble with your vision

Having trouble with blurred vision or difficulty focusing? An eye examination will help diagnose the issue, and we will advise you on a recommended solution.

Eye health concerns

If you have a current concern with your eye health or have been referred to us, we will perform a thorough review and do tests specific to your needs. We will send a report to your GP and email you a copy of the correspondence.

Routine check-ups & baselines of your eye health

You may not be having any current issues with your eye health - that's great! An eye test determines if there are underlying issues that may be asymptomatic and allows us to take a baseline of your current eye health so we can identify any changes over time.

Regular check-ups

Even if your eyesight seems fine, it’s a good idea to have your eyes checked regularly because many eye conditions don’t have any symptoms at first. We can advise you on an appropriate test interval, generally every 1–5 years depending on your age, family history and general health.

Clear information & advice

We’re interested in understanding what your problems and concerns are and providing straightforward explanations and simple solutions.

What happens during an eye exam?

Our routine tests normally take about 30 minutes. Our services are tailored to your specific needs, and where required we will perform additional tests depending on your symptoms, family history, age, general health and our initial findings.

1

We discuss your vision concerns and visual requirements for your day-to-day needs with work, leisure and hobbies.
2

We learn about your general health and eye health history and family history.
3

A thorough vision assessment and a review of the effectiveness of any existing prescription(s).
4

A comprehensive examination of your eye health. We create a set of baselines including photos and scans that we can look at in the future to understand if your eye health is changing over time.
5

An informative discussion about your eye health and recommendations relevant to your specific needs.

We collaborate with other healthcare professionals and can refer you to a GP, ophthalmologist or other optometrist if required.

Happy to see kids!

We see people of all ages. Most children don’t have vision or eye health problems and most often we are reassuringly ‘diagnosing normal’.

Of course if there is a problem it’s important to pick it up early. We make the examination for your child unintimidating, entertaining and effective.

Medicare & private health

Bulk billing is available for pensioners and health care card holders. Medicare rebates are available for eye examinations, and private health insurance rebates (for plans with “extras”) are also available.
